Compelling Biographies
We encourage everyone to read Christian biographies, especially pastoral, missionary, puritan, and reformer biographies. These books are warm theological reflections on God’s servants and the historical events that surround their lives. They challenge the reader to learn from what God has accomplished through His Church in the past.
Some of these biographies are popular and frequently read, especially those of well-known Christian men and women whom God, in his good providence, has used in reaching a large number of people around the world.
But there are stories of Christians who have served in quiet places and were not as well known (by the world!) – and these stories are just as riveting, just as encouraging, and just as God-honoring as any other. History is full of men and women who led ordinary lives, served in relative obscurity, but did so faithfully and with perseverance.
