Dr. John L. Carson served as President of Erskine College and Theological Seminary from 1998-2005, currently serves as an adjunct faculty member of the seminary, and teaches with the Mobile Theological Training Team (MT3) – primarily in Africa.
Carson was born in Gastonia, NC. He graduated from Erskine College and taught for a few years before earning a Master of Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary of Jackson, MI. After serving as pastor of Ebenezer Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church he earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. After serving as Professor of Theology and Church History at Erskine Theological Seminary from 1985-1994, he was the pastor at First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Gastonia, NC, before becoming President of Erskine College and Theological Seminary.
Carson is a member of the Evangelical Theological Society and has served on boards and committees of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. He is co-editor, with David W. Hall, of To Glorify and Enjoy God: A Commemoration of the Westminster Assembly, published by the Trust. John and Sarah Ellen Carson have 4 children – all of whom are involved in Christian ministry – and 8 grandchildren.
